Original Britains 109th Edition Loose-Leaf Catalogue Group — January and February 1954
Offered is an original Britains Ltd. 109th Edition catalogue group from 1954, issued for Britains toy soldiers, military miniatures, farm models, zoo animals, vehicles and related lines.
This is the unusual loose-leaf format designed so newly issued, factory-punched catalogue sheets could be added to the original folder. The printed page numbers are intentionally nonconsecutive because the sheets are organized by product section and later updates were inserted at their corresponding page numbers.
Included in this listing
•Original Britains Ltd. January 1954, 109th Edition loose-leaf catalogue and original folder.
•Original January 1954 New Lines stapled update packet, consisting of the correct 11 pre-punched update pages. The packet remains intact rather than having its sheets dispersed into the main catalogue.
•Original February 1954 Supplementary New Lines stapled packet, complete from Supplementary page 1 through page 19, followed by its blank back cover.
•Additional original Britains historical-regiment and uniform-related material shown in the photographs.
•The main catalogue includes the illustrated 155 mm gun fold-out and covers military figures, royal and ceremonial subjects, farm and zoo models, vehicles, road accessories, historical figures and other Britains product lines.
The February supplement is particularly attractive and introduces the individually boxed Britains Picture Pack range. Its illustrated subjects include cavalry and guards, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Yeomen of the Guard, United States forces, American Civil War figures, French Foreign Legion, Arabs, cowboys, North American Indians and Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Condition
The interior catalogue sheets and both stapled supplements are generally clean, bright and well preserved for material dating to 1954. The supplements retain their original staples and factory punch holes. The original outer folder shows the most wear, including visible staining, writing, toning, edge wear and general handling marks. The punched sheets show normal hole and edge wear. A small edge tear is visible near Supplementary page 19 of the February packet.
The main loose-leaf pagination is intentionally nonconsecutive and should not be interpreted as ordinary sequential book pagination. The January and February packets have been checked against their photographed page sequences. Because this is an expandable loose-leaf catalogue, the main catalogue is offered as appearing substantially complete as photographed, rather than with an absolute bibliographic guarantee. The additional historical-regiment material is included exactly as shown and has not been independently checked for complete series pagination.
Please review all photographs carefully; they form part of the condition description. No toy soldiers, figures or models are included—this listing is for the original paper catalogue and supplementary material only.
Packing and shipping
The catalogue and supplements will be protected from moisture, supported between rigid boards and shipped flat in a sturdy box with tracking and insurance. The original staples and punched sheets will not be altered.
