Offered here is the 1977 Franklin Library limited edition collecting three John Steinbeck classics
—Tortilla Flat, Of Mice and Men, and Cannery Row—in one handsome volume.
Published exclusively for subscribers to The Collected Stories of the World’s Greatest Writers,
this edition features illustrations by Herbert Tauss and a frontispiece portrait of Steinbeck by
Stan Hunter.
The full brown leather binding is decorated with an elaborate gilt leaf design, with raised bands
and gilt lettering on the spine. Gilt page edges, gold-toned silk moiré endpapers, and an
attached ribbon bookmark complete the presentation.
This copy is complete at 448 pages, with all illustrations present. The binding is very secure,
with no loose pages or structural issues. The gilt decoration remains attractive and the spine
lettering is clear. There are rubbing marks mainly along the bottom edge and fore-edge of the
front cover. Pages have light age toning and occasional spotting. The moiré endpapers and
ribbon are intact.
A nicely presented collection of three enduring works by one of America’s most celebrated
writers. Please review all photos for condition details. Carefully packed in a sturdy box for
shipment.
