The Lazy Automobile
By Wallace Wadsworth, with color and black-and-white illustrations by Clarence Biers. Chicago: Rand McNally & Company, 1942. Cover number 359. The copyright page is dated MCMXLII (1942) and shows the Rand McNally imprint.
A charming vintage children’s automobile story featuring Chuffer, a tired older car who finally gets his engine repaired. The bold, colorful Clarence Biers cover art and interior illustrations make this a nice displayable piece of 1940s transportation and children’s-book ephemera.
